Shooting Star Mandala CAL
Crocheting mandalas is so much fun and there are so many beautiful pieces by so many talented crocheters out there. I was inspired by stars and flowers when creating this pattern. The wonderful team of crochet testers, organisers and proof readers in the Facebook-group "Crochet A Long" made it possible to complete this my first mandala pattern. Thank you so much. Enjoy!

Part 1
Colour A: Ch5, sl st in first ch to form a ring
Round 1: Ch1, 8sc in ring, sl st in first sc.
(8 sc)
Round 2: Starting in next sc, * 1 puff stitch, ch 2 *, repeat *-* around, join with sl st to top of puff st. Fasten off.
(8 puff st, 8ch2sp)
Round 3: Colour B, join in any ch2 space:
*(ch4, 1 sl st, ch4, 1 sl st) in same ch2, sl st in next ch2* repeat *-* around, join with sl st to base of beginning ch4. Fasten off.
(16 petals)
Round 4: Colour A, working behind the petals, join in the top of any puff st of round 2:
ch1(doesn't count as a st)* (1 sc, ch9, 1 sl st in same sc) in puff st of rnd 2, ch3*. Repeat *-* around, join with slst in first sc.
(8 ch3sp, 8 ch9sp)
Round 5: Colour A, sl st to ch9 space:
ch1(doesn't count as a st) * (hdc, 4 dc, 3 tr, 4 dc, hdc) in ch9sp, 2 hdc in ch3sp* repeat *-* around, join with slst in first hdc. Fasten off.
(8 petals, 16 hdc between petals)
Round 6: Colour C, join in first hdc of any petal after 2hdc between petals. Work in front loops of sts from rnd 5:
Ch1(doesn't count as a st)*6 sc, (sc, picot) in the 2nd tr from round 5 at the top of the petal, 6 sc, hdc2 together (using both loops of the 2 hdc between two petals)* repeat *-* around, joining with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
(96sc, 8 picot, 8 hdc2 together)
Round 7: Colour C. Join in st after picot, and work in back loops of sts from rnd 5:
Ch1(doesn't count as a st)* 2 sc in same st, 2 sc, (skip 3 back loops), fpdc2 together in the last hdc (of the right petal) and 1st hdc (of the left petal), skip 3 back loops, 2 sc, 2 sc in same st, sc in next sc* repeat *-* around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

February 24th
Round 8: Colour B, join in any fpdc2 together of rnd 7:
Use ch3 for the first dc of the first pc of this round. *pc, ch1, skip 1 sc, 2
sc, skip 1 sc, 1 hdc, ch2, 1 hdc through both the picot loop of rnd 6 and sc of rnd 7 , skip 1sc, 2 sc, skip 1 sc, ch1* repeat *-* around, join with sl st in pc. Fasten off.
(8 Pc, 16ch1sp, 32 sc, 16 hdc, 8ch2sp)
Round 9: Colour D, join in any st before a pc:
Ch1(doesn't count as a st) * hdc (behind the pc), 2 hdc in next st, 2 hdc, 3 dc through picot loop of rnd 6 (behind ch2 space of rnd 8), 2 hdc, 2hdc in next st* repeat *-* around, join with slst in first hdc. Fasten off.
(72 hdc, 24 dc)
Round 10: Colour C, join in 1st dc (out of 3 dc in the picot loop of rnd 6):
Ch1(doesn't count as a st) *3 sc, skip 1 hdc of rnd 9, fpdtr (around the left fpdc of rnd 7), 7 sc, skip 1 hdc of rnd 9, fpdtr (around the right dc of rnd 7)*. R repeat *-* around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Ch1 (doesn't count as a st) *2 sc, fptr 2 together around both fptr of rnd 20, skip 1 st, 4 sc, hdc, (skip fptr, ch1, hdc in next st) 7 times, 5sc, fptr 2 together around both fptr of rnd 20, skip 1 st, 5sc, sc through both the top loop on picot flower and through st behind, 5 sc, sc through top loop on picot flower and through st behind, 4 sc* repeat *-* around, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Round 23: Colour C, start in fptr 2 together after "the part with puff st" of rnd 22:
Ch3 (counts as first dc), bldc in same st as ch3 *18 bldc, (2 bldc in next st, 8 bldc) twice, 2bldc in next st* repeat *-* around omitting last 2bldc in next st from final repeat, join with sl st in top of ch3. Fasten off.
